NWI Surgeon First in State to Use New Tech
Dr. Dwight Tyndall is setting new standards in spine surgery by becoming the first spine surgeon in Indiana to use computerized navigation for outpatient minimally invasive spine surgery.
Tyndall, Partner of Lakeshore Bone and Joint Institute (LBJI), did so by using SeaSpine’s FLASH™ Navigation System. This groundbreaking system, which features 7D technology, allows the surgeon to perform more precise placement of spinal instrumentation without the need for excessive radiation and surgical exposure.
The commonly used conventional image guided spine surgery (IGS) systems depend on intraoperative radiation, but the FLASH Navigation System allows Dr. Tyndall and his surgical team to completely eliminate unnecessary radiation exposure — a game-changer for patient safety. This cutting-edge machine-vision tech also produces a more efficient surgery and a reduced operative time.
“The 7D machine-vision technology gives me an unparalleled 3D view of the anatomy during surgery, allowing for greater accuracy in placing instrumentation,” said Dr. Tyndall. “I’m proud to offer my patients the latest in spine surgery while removing the risks of radiation, something many hospitals and other surgeons still rely on."
In addition to machine-vision cameras, the FLASH Navigation System also features advanced algorithms, which makes this technology groundbreaking for image-guided surgery. By taking this innovative leap, Dr. Tyndall continues to lead the way in advancing outpatient care, providing patients with safer, faster and more efficient surgical experiences.
"I’ve always been committed to providing the best patient care possible," Dr. Tyndall said. "Using the FLASH Navigation System reinforces my mission to provide outstanding patient care while improving the patient’s experience."
