Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute is proud to announce that Dr. Adrian Sonevytsky has successfully implanted the new Medtronic battery in a spinal cord stimulator, marking a groundbreaking achievement for pain management in Northwest Indiana. Dr. Sonevytsky is the first provider in the region to offer this innovative technology to patients suffering from chronic pain.
Although Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute mourns the passing of Dr. James Malayter, we also want to take this time to remember his many contributions to our practice.
Initially joining LBJI in 1978, Dr. Malayter became President of the group in 1989 and served in that capacity for 17 years.
Dr. Aaron Ruter, a fellowship-trained doctor of podiatric medicine, participated in a panel discussion about current surgical techniques for nerve surgery, repair, and reconstruction at the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS) Conference in February 2024. Dr. Ruter, DPM, spoke specifically on "Continued Pain Post-Total Ankle Replacement." As a panelist and participant, Dr. Ruter commented, “This was a great honor to speak at the ACFAS conference.
Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute proudly sponsored the Valparaiso University Men's Basketball team at their recent game against Evansville! While the final buzzer didn't bring the win they were hoping for, the Beacons’ spirit and dedication throughout the game were truly inspiring.
Anthony Levenda,M.D., a Fellowship-Trained Sports Medicine Physician, is VU’s official team doctor and so he knows firsthand the commitment, resilience, and true team spirit these student-athletes bring on and off the court. These are values shared by LBJI.
The NWI Community is so proud of the Crown Point High School football team for making it to the Class 6A State Championship game for the first time in history! They played with heart, passion, and determination, and gave their best effort against a tough Ben Davis team.

Although the Grand Opening was postponed due to COVID-19 restrictions, LBJI was excited to invite the community to their location on East 109th Avenue. Visitors were able to tour the cutting-edge, expanded facility, meet physicians, and receive information about the services now offered to the Crown Point community.
