Dr. Jain of LBJI Performs Robotically Assisted Knee Replacement

Jain, a fellowshiptrained orthopedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine, recently became the first LBJI surgeon to offer robotically assisted knee replacement.

Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute Expands Urgent Care Service

SCHERERVILLE – With a goal of making orthopedic care easily accessible to the community, the Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute is expanding its Orthopedic Urgent Care offerings in Northwest Indiana.

In May, LBJI opened its third Urgent Care location at 833 W. Lincoln Highway in Schererville, joining its Urgent Care locations at 3691 Willowcreek Road in Portage and 500 East 109th Ave. in Crown Point.

NWI Surgeon First in State to Use New Tech

Dr. Dwight Tyndall is setting new standards in spine surgery by becoming the first spine surgeon in Indiana to use computerized navigation for outpatient minimally invasive spine surgery.

Tyndall, Partner of Lakeshore Bone and Joint Institute (LBJI), did so by using SeaSpine’s FLASH™ Navigation System. This groundbreaking system, which features 7D technology, allows the surgeon to perform more precise placement of spinal instrumentation without the need for excessive radiation and surgical exposure.

Tyler C. Miller, M.D.

Dr. Tyler Miller is a fellowship-trained hand, wrist, and upper extremity surgeon. He has extensive surgical and nonsurgical training offering the highest level of care. Following his undergraduate studies, he completed a research fellowship at the National Institutes of Health in Bethesda, Maryland, studying the biology and immunology of cancer. His time in clinical research provided an early appreciation for the practice of evidence-based medicine and the desire to continually improve the lives of the individuals he treats.

LBJI’s Dr. Sonevytsky Pioneering Advanced Pain Management with New Medtronic Battery

Lake Building & Joint Institute is proud to announce that Dr. Adrian Sonevytsky has successfully implanted the new Medtronic battery in a spinal cord stimulator, marking a groundbreaking achievement for pain management in Northwest Indiana. Dr. Sonevytsky is the first provider in the region to offer this innovative technology to patients suffering from chronic pain.

Although Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute mourns the passing of Dr. James Malayter, we also want to take this time to remember his many contributions to our practice.

Initially joining LBJI in 1978, Dr. Malayter became President of the group in 1989 and served in that capacity for 17 years.

Dr. Aaron Ruter, a fellowship-trained doctor of podiatric medicine, participated in a panel discussion about current surgical techniques for nerve surgery, repair, and reconstruction at the American College of Foot and Ankle Surgeons (ACFAS) Conference in February 2024. Dr. Ruter, DPM, spoke specifically on "Continued Pain Post-Total Ankle Replacement." As a panelist and participant, Dr. Ruter commented, “This was a great honor to speak at the ACFAS conference.

Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute proudly sponsored the Valparaiso University Men's Basketball team at their recent game against Evansville! While the final buzzer didn't bring the win they were hoping for, the Beacons’ spirit and dedication throughout the game were truly inspiring.
