Lisa h., Valparaiso

Lisa couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome of her elbow surgery to alleviate tendonitis. “By the time I went to Dr. Gruszka, I was in a lot of pain. He explained to me that 80 percent of the time, surgery isn’t needed and that we would try conservative treatments first.

She tried exercises, then cortisone shots, then an Liboderm patch that uses electrical pulses. After discussing her lack of progress, and increasing pain, she and Dr. Gruszka agreed that surgery was the next step.

“Dr Gruszka explained the procedure and told me to expect a 12 to 16 week recovery. He gave me a realistic timeline and told me exactly what to expect. He took the time to answer my questions and never made me feel like my questions were stupid or that he didn’t have time for me.” Lisa was discharged from physical therapy after 14 weeks.

Going to physical therapy twice a week, while not her favorite activity, was almost enjoyable. “The staff there keep it light and communicated my progress to my doctor.”

“I’m 90 percent better than when I first visited Lakeshore Bone & Joint for my elbow pain. My kids are happy that I’m not grumpy any more. I tell friends there’s no need to travel to Chicago for first-class care. Everything you could need is right here.”
