About Dr. Kalisch
Dr. Kalisch joins LBJI as a clinical psychologist specializing in health psychology. His behavioral medicine practice will focus on chronic pain, insomnia, weight management and lifestyle modification.

Dr. Kalisch completed his doctoral training at Scripps Memorial Hospital Pain Center. He remained there as a member of the interdisciplinary team until relocating to Burlington, Vermont to assist in the development of the Spine Institute of New England at the Medical Center Hospital of Vermont.

As Director of Behavioral Medicine at the Spine Institute, Dr. Kalisch and his colleagues published a number of articles in the journal which were particularly related to the benefits of providing an interdisciplinary approach to the treatment of painful back and neck disorders. Clinical outcomes of this program garnered international attention for the Spine Institute and attracted visiting clinicians from across the world. While at the Spine Institute Dr. Kalisch also maintained faculty appointments in the departments of Psychology and Orthopedics.

After six years at the Spine Institute, Dr. Kalisch and his family moved to the Midwest where he helped develop the Northwestern Memorial Hospital Back and Neck Institute, a premier facility in Chicago that assembled the talents and strengths of world class health care providers from the areas of orthopedic surgery, neurological surgery, neurology, pain medicine, behavioral medicine and physical and occupational therapy.

A long time resident of Valparaiso, Dr. Kalisch is dedicated to helping patients struggling with persistent pain and related medical conditions to develop the tools to cope effectively and successfully with their conditions.
