Dr. Bruell says
"I was inspired to go into medicine after seeing two uncles who had lost both legs due to complications of diabetes. These and similar experiences at a young age led me on a journey to understand illness and effective treatments. I chose podiatry because its focus is foot and ankle disorders. This includes treating bone, joint, nerve and skin problems that may require surgical treatment. Typically, I care for patients of all ages, including athletes. A large percentage of my patients are diabetic and require treatment of foot and ankle ulcerations. I also see many patients with heel pain, bunions, hammertoes and foot injuries.

"Continuing my education has always been important. Frequently attending medical seminars keeps me up-to-date on the best technologies and surgical procedures used in foot and ankle care. I have taught at the University of Illinois College of Medicine and have lectured at meetings across North America. These experiences have allowed me to help my patients return to their necessary activities."
