About Dr. Levenda
Dr. Levenda joins LBJI as a general orthopedic surgeon whose practice focuses on shoulder, hip, and knee disorders in the young and aging individual.
Dr. Levenda, a graduate of Portage High School, received his medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine and completed his orthopedic residency at the University of Chicago. After completing his residency, he served a fellowship in Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy and Total Joint Replacement with Toledo Orthopaedic Surgeons, Inc. in Toledo, Ohio.
During his fellowship Dr. Levenda was involved with providing sports medicine services to all levels of athletes -- from high school and collegiate levels up to the professional level. He served as an athletic team physician for the Toledo Mud Hens Triple-A Baseball, University of Toledo Rockets and Swanton High School Bulldogs in Swanton, Ohio. Prior to his fellowship, he took part in elective rotations -- one in Sports Medicine with the University of Notre Dame Athletic Department and one in Orthopedic Trauma with Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Illinois.
His research on osteochondromatosis (the development of tumors on the bone) was published in 2002 in both the Journal of Pediatric Orthopaedics as well as the Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery.
Dr. Levenda, his wife and children reside in Valparaiso. Outside of work he enjoys running, bicycling, fishing, and spending time with his family.
