George Alavanja, MD  Dr. George Alavanja 1969 - 2007 It is with deep sadness that the physicians and staff of Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute say goodbye to esteemed friend, colleague and family member -- Dr. George Alavanja. Dr Alavanja lost his courageous and arduous battle with cancer on April 26th, 2007.
As a well-known, respected orthopedic surgeon, Dr. Alavanja established a successful upper extremity practice with LBJI which began in 2003. His talent, passion and dedication touched the lives of the many patients he treated -- from children to adults. He was an active member of his church, a devoted husband and father to his wife Georgiana and their new son Milan George.
At the request of the family, tax deductible memorial donations may be made to the Indiana University Foundation - Alavanja Scholarship Fund, which has been established in Dr. Alavanja's name to benefit medical students who choose to specialize in hand surgery.
Lakeshore Bone & Joint Institute would like to express our sincere appreciation to all of those who have shown their support to the Alavanja family throughout this difficult time.
